6th WestLicht Photographica Auction
06.11.2004

The sixth WestLicht Photographica Auction ended successfully as usual. The highest hammer price (Euro 40,000 including premium) was achieved by Leica MP camera with consecutive numbers. In the 1950’s one of the cameras belonged to the first “paparazzo” Tazio Secchiaroli. As Fellini’s still photographer he used it, amongst others things, during the shooting of “Dolce Vita”.

In other ways, the current auction was able to maintain the high standards of the last one and trump it in some respects: over 85 per cent of a total of 747 lots were sold, some of which fetched noteworthy prices. For example, a black Leica M3 was knocked down at 38,125 euros and a Carl Zeiss Hologon lens fetched 27,500 euros.

Numerous bidders from all parts of the world took part in the camera auction—from Thailand, Japan, Canada, USA and various part of Europe amongst others. The next chance for camera lovers to bid will be at the coming WestLicht Photographica Auction in May 2005.
