8th WestLicht Photographica Auction

On the 27th November 2005 the 8th WestLicht Photographica Auction took place.

Highlight of the auction was a Leica M7 with the serial number 3.000.000, which was presented to Salgado in spring 2005 by the Leica Camera AG in recognition of his humanistic photographic work. The camera was sold at a sensationel hammer price of € 90.000 (starting price € 28.000). The camera was auctioned for the benefit of a Brazilian rainforest reforestation programme - it supports the project Instituto Terra, founded by Lélia Wanick and Sebastiao Salgado.
