Crossing the Border
Between Photojournalism and Author’s Photography
Rudi Meisel travelled Eastern Germany, when there was still an Iron Curtain and a Cold War. From the end of the 1970s on, he visited the GDR as one of only few West-German photographers on a regular basis. Commissioned by Zeit Magazine, he took pictures there over a period of eleven years. A selection from those works is currently on display in the exhibition EYES WIDE OPEN! 100 YEARS OF LEICA PHOTOGRAPHY at WestLicht Museum.
