THE WET PLATE COLLODION PROCESS IN THE 21ST CENTURY
Why in times of Photoshop does an artist photograph with a technique from 19th century? What is it that's fascinating about a process developed in the 1850s and what is the artistic surplus?
In her talk on the occasion of the exhibition Édouard Baldus – Transit and Monument, Agnes Prammer discusses questions on the future of an (almost) bygone technique with WestLicht education curator Eva Mühlbacher and gives insight into her work with wet plate collodion process and her self-constructed mobile darkroom fitted on a baby buggy.
Agnes Prammer lives and works in Vienna. Her photo series and artist books have been internationally exhibited and awarded. Most recently she took part with an intervention in the exhibition Frauenbilder? at Bank Austria Kunstforum, Vienna.
