Over 200 photographs will go under the hammer at the eighth WestLicht Photography Auction on the 24th of May. The selection includes two rare large format prints from August Sander's famous work 'People of the 20th Century' and an extraordinarily early daguerreotype from around 1841, which must be attributed to one of the pioneers of Austrian photography.
Once again Austrian photography is represented with some outstanding works, ranging from Trude Fleischmann and Rudolf Koppitz to Ernst Haas, Erich Lessing and Inge Morath.
International glamour and fashion photography also feature prominently - including both early classic photographs by Edward Steichen and Horst P. Horst, as well as exciting fashion shots by Lillian Bassman, Jeanloup Sieff, Helmut Newton and David LaChapelle.
A highlight of the auction is a portrait of Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn, taken in 1949 by the doyen of fashion photography, Irving Penn.
Our independent team of experts ensure the accurate valuation and description of individual photographs.
