Historical, classical and contemporary photography

For collectors the Photo Auction Preview offers the chance to fall in love with particular lots and examine them closely and for every photo enthusiast, the Preview is a unique opportunity to experience an array of rare historical and contemporary works. Among the highlights are Gustav Klimt with his cat, photographed by Moriz Nähr in 1912 and numerous other Austrian masterpieces by Rudolf Koppitz, Heinrich Kühn, Ferdinand Schmutzer, Madame d’Ora and Trude Fleischmann.

Photo agency Magnum is again very well represented: The photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson, Ernst Haas, Werner Bischof, Bruno Barbey, Mary Ellen Mark, Elliott Erwitt, Inge Morath and René Burri alone would make this exhibition one of the most remarkable of the year.

More than 200 photographs and selected photobooks provide a fascinating insight into the history of the medium. However, the portfolio of the Auction does not only address experienced collectors. With starting prices from 600 Euro among the photographs and 300 Euro among the photobooks, novice collectors and photo enthusiasts with a more moderate budget will have the chance to make a catch as well.
