István Virágvölgyi has been a member of the 2022 World Press Photo jury for Europe. This coming Tuesday, he will give a guided tour of the current World Press Photo exhibition and offer special insights into the processes behind the scenes of the competition: How do the World Press Photo juries handle the more than 60,000 photographs submitted each year? What are the selection criteria, and what defines a strong image?

István Virágvölgyi is the artistic director of the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center in Budapest, where he has been a curator since 2014. He has worked at leading Hungarian media outlets such as Origo and the news agency MTI as a chief photo editor, and has taught at the Metropolitan University Budapest as well as the Moholy-Nagy University.
